Artisan Craft Exhibition: By Hand, from the Heart

My new venture got another great chance to showcase and sell my work. My sister who is a textile designer and pro in her field was having her exhibition at Chennai, India. Read more here.

She offered me a chance to sell my art works too and I started working upon it. More base fabrics, more paints and I was working in my full-swing super excited!! I even made hand-painted sarees this time with motifs of birds, dragonfly etc. While my Eco-friendly canvas bags were mostly of birds and abstracts.

Finally we reached there, had a good stay, settled up our stall and had a superb show :)
It was a great experience to exhibit my hand-crafted products there. A lot of people to interact and deal with. The response was great and sale too. My paintings were appreciated by all age-groups and bird-bags were certainly a hit! I even got later orders :)

Sharing some pics from the two day Chennai event ~

The Street Store: Shopping experience for the poor!

It all started with a Facebook invite to an event called 'The Street Store'.

These are basically rent-free, free 'pop-up clothing store' on streets, where donations from various people are made available for the poor. A kind of shopping site is created where people can choose what they like, giving them a feeling of shopping.! Doesn't that sound cheerful! Who doesn't like shopping!! :-)

The 180th Street Store was happening in my city 'Bhubaneswar' and it was a great opportunity for me to get involved in. It was being hosted by Radio Choklate. Read about the event here: 180th Street Store.

Me and my sister donated some clothes for the event
-----------------

Asking the concerned person, I landed at the event for volunteering. I was in the kids section. I helped with sorting out clothes and hanging out for display. It was fun. There were many volunteers working around to make the event successful and it was really appreciable!

A queue was made at one side for the people who'd be buying these. After all setup, they were allowed to walk in one group after other and choose what they wanted as per their need and sizes and liking :-) They were pleased and happy with the clothes they got.

Isn't nice?

Volunteers just before the work starts!
Shopping!

They got some stuff!

:-)

All got something!

Overall a very good initiative and experience to meet people, and then and their share the belongings with the needy.

A lesson for us to donate stuff that we no longer wear, need or consider out of fashion. This will mean a lot for someone who doesn't have something basic as clothes to wear.

If you are in India, you can always donate your clothes and other things at 'Goonj' or you can host your own Street Store, contacting those folks!!

Beached !!

My State 'Odisha' (India) is around the coastal belt. Taking awesome opportunity and to beat the heat.. we went for a beach trip! It's around one hour from the capital city. Got started after lunch and it got almost evening when we reached. This particular one was clean and crowd free. Absolutely chilling, relaxing and a beautiful feeling!

Beaches are a regular travelling places here and people from far away states too come and visit Odisha.

Sea! I Love!

:-)
Was too happy with the sea ////
We went to see a lighthouse .. but it was closed for going on top of it.
From the outside! It's actually an ancient lighthouse

Fun at office in Diwali !

After a long time I had some fun that too in office and the occasion was Diwali celebration. :D Our HR dept. initiated this Ethnic wear day, Rangoli Competition and Room Decoration competition on Saturday i.e. two days before Diwali. We all enjoyed a lot, wore traditional clothes, made rangoli and in the room decoration we took the theme of 'Rangela Mela'. We created lots of funfair comical shops and enjoyed a lot making it typical like a local mela. I created a Photo Booth stall. 8-)

Best part was, we got best Decorated room award and got free tickets for all room members for any movie. So on the whole we all 24 people are going for Jab Tak Hai Jaan movie this saturday ;)

Let pictures say the rest!!!! :) Have a look :::::::

A lunch out with office mates

After some planing and finding a date, we finally made a plan this Sunday afternoon. The plan was a little get together at Momi's place. Ofcourse she was cooking for 3 of us, Me, Tripti and Pooja. ;) Momi's husband included in being the host.

The afternoon it rained heavily and it was difficult to reach up. Late but we finally searched and reached and had a good time there. :)
